Bank ABC Group commemorates Bahraini Women’s Day (BWD) 2022 by pledging support to Shamsaha Women’s Centre

​On the occasion that celebrates​​​​​​ women’s role in building the nation, and in line with its commitment to support the local communities across its network, the Bank pledged its support towards the Non-profit organisation’s trailblazing work as the region’s first women’s crisis programme.

Manama, Bahrain: Bank ABC, MENA’s leading international bank, along with its digital, mobile-only retail arm, ila Bank, commemorated Bahraini Women’s Day 2022 by pledging financial support towards the initiatives of the Shamsaha Women’s Center. In its sixth year, th​e Bahrain-based non-profit corporation, Shamsaha focuses on empowering and protecting women subjected to abuse through the first, full-scale 24/7 women’s crisis response programme in the Middle East. 

Celebrating the accomplishments, potential and resilience of women within the Group and beyond, Bank ABC’s Acting Group CEO, Sael Al Waary, hosted an inspiring breakfast session for staff featuring Ms. Mary-Justine Todd, Shamsaha’s founder, who spoke about the organisation’s role in supporting and amplifying the potential of all women. She also explained how women can volunteer and serve as advocates of this cause. 

During his opening remarks, Mr. Al Waary noted, “Seeing our female leaders, who play a critical role in the growth and progression of our organisation, gathered on the occasion of Bahraini Women's Day, fills me with great pride and appreciation. Bank ABC remains committed to creating a diverse culture across our network. I encourage everyone to proactively engage with their communities to make a positive difference." 

Bank ABC, as a socially responsible corporate citizen, takes an active role in supporting social and environmental initiatives across its entire network, also encouraging its staff to contribute in their personal capacity to serve the communities they are part of. In Bahrain, the Bank has been regularly sponsoring educational programmes that promote financial literacy, previously the staff conducted a beach clean-up, and the Bank runs special programmes that offer financial assistance to those in dire need. 

In the spirit of marking the remarkable role women play in the Bahraini society, the Bank’s commitment to support Shamsaha only underlines its belief that with the right support and intent, we all have the capacity to turn around our own lives and that of others.
