The purpose of this privacy notice is to explain how our organization uses the personal data we collect from you when you apply for a job, apprenticeship, internship, or any other position at Arab Banking Corporation SA (“ABC SA", “Controller", “Bank", “we", “us", etc.).
All the information we collect from you via a recruitment service or through various platforms (e.g. LinkedIn,) are processed in accordance with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as any data protection regulation & directives that are applicable in the jurisdictions where the Bank operates (France, Germany and Italy).
Your data controller is ABC SA, a member of the Bank ABC Group. This includes ABC SA's parent company, ABC BSC based in Bahrain and any entities wholly or partially owned by it. What data do we collect?
The categories of personal data that can be collected from Candidates for a job application can be used to identify natural persons from:
- Names,
- E-mails,
- Pictures and videos,
- Information from LinkedIn accounts,
- Answers to questions asked through the recruitment process,
- Titles,
- Education records, and
- Other information that the Candidates or other third parties (past employer, university…) have provided to ABC SA.
Only data that is relevant for the recruitment process is collected and processed.
We are responsible for the processing of the personal data that a candidate provides, and for the personal data that we in other ways collect within the recruitment process.
How do we collect your data?
We collect personal data about Candidates from the Candidates directly when they:
- apply for a job or otherwise, adding personal data about themselves either personally or by using a third-party source such as LinkedIn;
- use a job application service, job listing site or any other means to connect with our staff, adding personal data about themselves either personally or by using a third-party source such as LinkedIn; and/or
- provide identifiable data in their exchanges/communications with ABC SA and such data is of relevance to the application procedure.
We collect data from third parties, such as LinkedIn, and through other public sources. This is referred to as “Sourcing" and is manually performed by our employees or automatically through a third-party.

The data collected – directly or indirectly - from you will be strictly used for the recruitment process & processed in accordance with this notice and the applicable legislation.
Purpose and lawfulness of processing
The purpose of the collecting and processing of personal data is strictly limited to managing recruitment. The lawfulness of the processing of personal data is our legitimate interest to simplify and facilitate recruitment.
Aggregated Data
Personal data that could be processed with the purpose of aggregated analysis or market research is always made unidentifiable. Such personal data cannot be used to identify a certain Candidate. Thus, such data is not considered as personal data anymore.
The consent of the data subject
The Candidate consents to the processing of his or her personal data for the purpose of recruiting carried out by the Controller.
The Candidate consents that personal data is collected through third-party job application services or hiring agencies when the Candidate:
- makes an application through a Job application service or Hiring agency, adding personal data about themselves either personally or by using a third-party source as LinkedIn; and
- uses a Job application service or Hiring agency to connect to the Controller's recruitment department, adding personal data about themselves either personally or by using a third-party source such as LinkedIn.
The Candidate also consents to the Controller collecting publicly available information about the Candidate and compiling them for use in recruitment purposes.
The Candidate consents to the personal data being collected in accordance with the above, and to the processing, storage, transfer and retention time described below.
The Candidate has the right to withdraw his or her consent to the processing of his personal data by the Bank at any time, by contacting the Controller using the contact details listed under the “Contacts” Section.
How do we store & transfer your personal data?
The personal data collected from the Candidate is stored and processed within the European Union or by such third country that is considered by the European Commission to have an adequate level of protection, or processed by such suppliers that have entered into such binding agreements that fully comply with the lawfulness of third country transfers (for example, the EU-US Privacy Shield) or to other supplies where adequate safeguards are in place to protect the rights of the data subjects whose data is transferred. We will not sell or otherwise transfer Candidates' personal data to third parties for the purpose of commercial use unrelated to the recruitment process of the Bank.
We may transfer Candidates' Personal Data to:
- our contractors and sub-contractors, acting as our Processors and Sub-Processors in accordance with our instructions, for the provision of the recruitment process;
- authorities or legal advisors in case criminal or improper behavior is suspected; and
- authorities, legal advisors, or other actors, if required by law, court order, or under the injunction of any other competent authority.
We will only transfer Candidates' personal data to third parties that we have confidence in. We carefully choose partners to ensure that the Candidates' personal data is processed in accordance with current privacy legislations.
We cooperate with the following categories of processors of personal data:
- recruitment agencies,
- server and hosting companies,
- and other companies with regards to suppling recruitment services.
How long will the personal data be processed ?
The Candidate personal data is stored for six months after completion of the recruitment process and may be deleted earlier.
In case either the Candidate or the Bank is interested to store the personal data longer for future recruitment, they can agree to store it for up to two years after the completion of the recruitment process.

What are Candidates’ data protection rights?
Subject to the applicable laws in your location, you have certain rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to:
- The
right to access: Candidates have the right to request information about the personal data that is processed by us, by notifying in writing, using the contact details below. Candidates have the right to one (1) copy of the processed personal data which belongs to them without any charge. For further demanded copies, the Controller has a right to charge a reasonable fee based on the administrative costs for such demand;
- The
right to rectification: Candidates have the right to rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning that Candidate, via a written request, using the contact details under the “Contacts” Section;
- The
right to erasure: the Candidate has the right to demand deletion or restriction of processing, and the right to object to processing based on their legitimate interest;
- The
right to restrict processing: Candidates have the right to request that ABC SA restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions;
- The
right to object to processing: Candidates have the right to revoke any consent to processing that has been given by the Candidate to Controller; and
- The
right to data portability: Candidates under certain circumstances a right to get the personal data and transfer these to another controller as long as this does not negatively affect the rights and freedoms of others.

The Candidate has the right to lodge a complaint to the supervisory authority regarding the processing of personal data relating to him or her, if the Candidate considers that the processing of personal data infringes the legal framework of privacy law.

Security of your personal data
We prioritize the personal integrity and therefore work actively so that the personal data of the Candidates are processed with utmost care. We take the measures that can be reasonably expected to the make sure that the personal data of Candidates and others are processed safely and in accordance with this Privacy Notice and the applicable rules and regulations.
However, transfer of information over the internet and mobile networks can never occur without any risk, so all transfers are made at the own risk of the person transferring the data.
It is important that Candidates also take responsibility to ensure that their data is protected. In the event of a personal data incident resulting from the Candidate's negligence, the Bank cannot be held responsible.

When Candidates apply through a website, information about the usage may be stored as cookies. Cookies are passive text files that are stored in the internet browser on the Candidate's device, such as computer, mobile phone or tablet, when using our website or job application service.
We use cookies to improve the Candidate's usage of our services and to gather information about, for example, statistics about the usage of our services. This is done to secure, maintain and improve the hiring process. The information that is collected through the cookies can in some instances be personal data and is, in such instances, regulated by our

How to manage cookies?
Candidates can at any time disable the use of cookies by changing the local settings in their devices. Disabling of cookies can affect the experience, for example disabling some functions on our website or job application service.

Canges to our Candidates privacy notice
We have the right to, at any time, make changes or additions to the Privacy Notice. The latest version of the Privacy Notice will always be available through the Bank's website. A new version is considered communicated to the Candidates when the Candidate has either received an email informing the Candidate of the new version (using the e-mail stated by the Candidate in their job application) or when the Candidate is otherwise informed of the new Privacy Notice.
